Better then expected
By BusterGolf | on Thursday, February 23, 2012
I bought the Prius II because of the gas milage more than anything else. I didn't have high expectations other than the gas milage. Was I suprised when I started driving it. The Prius had much more power then I expected. My brother owns the Civic hybrid and the Prius' power blows it out of the water. I have no problems jumping on the highways and going up the Cajon Pass on the way to Las vegas. It also handles well. After 22000 miles, I'm averaging 46 MPG. With gas now over $4.00 and rising, I'm sure glad I have my Prius. I have it for a 3 year lease which expires next year. I will either buy it or I am also looking at the new Prius V. Either way, I will be a prius owner for years to come.… - 5.0
Best car I've ever owned.

Driving back and forth to FL. from RI at 50.3 MPG. is unbeatable. Absolutely no mechanical problems whatsoever. However, it's not the prettiest car I've ever owned, nor the most comfortable on a long trip.… - 5.0
Everybody "I" know loves it...
By J | on Wednesday, December 30, 2020
The '15, in my opinion, was the peak of respectable styling and power for the Prius. Early ones and recent ones look bizarre, but the '15 is nice and vaguely resembles a Cadillac from the rear. Performance has been described as too loud, but I find the extra horsepower reassuring compared to other hybrids. I have never been caught in a scary merge without enough acceleration. Only issue is the lead acid battery went bad after 3 years. I bought an Optima for $300 and installed myself. Should last a very long time. Never had an issue with the hybrid battery. Interior styling, smooth CVT and available moonroof make driving a relaxing experience on par with the quiet of an EV for most driving. Only in aggressive highway maneuvers does the engine really get loud. But I like a hybrid that can be a bully when it has to. I should add: I can afford an EV but choose to continue driving the Prius. I work in the industry and have found lithium batteries require special coolant systems and mildly deplete themselves to stay warm enough to charge in the winter. The Prius just starts cold, works fine every time and fills up with gas in 5 minutes.…
